you are what you meat

This imagery was made using a scanner and compiled into a large-scale (12ftx10ft) fabric quilt. The idea stemmed from drastic misconceptions we have about our food, how some of us experience discomfort when simply touching food, and how many of us would rather not know the origins of that food. The scale of the quilt and the resolution of the scans create a chaotic dissonance for the viewer; from far away the quilt looks attractive and mysterious until you get up close, when the subject of the quilt becomes apparent. At this point viewers are either riveted or repulsed.
